Emmaline Kitson (Founder 2001)
Emmaline is an International Tutor (teacher trainer)and
speaker on baby swimming all over the world. She has
been teaching babies for over 13 years and with Birthlight
since 2001. She completed the training to be a tutor
in 2003 and since then Emmaline has developed the very
successful program of Aqualight Babies.
Emie has three children, Bradley who was swimming at
15 months , Lucas who could swim 5m at the age if 2
½ years and Zane who was born in water at home
in May 2009, loves the bath and was very relaxed in
the pool on his first visit.
“I am so passionate about baby swimming because,
I had post–natal depression after my first son was
born and had lost all my self confidence. I began swimming
classes in Cambridge, I had real one-to-one time with
Bradley. Looking at him, swimming with him on my chest,
I felt myself fill with love for my son, this was my turning
point, pulling me out of depression. When I help a parent
and baby bond, the way Bradley and I did, I get the feeling
all over again and I know how much more enriched that
persons life is”.
For further development Emie is currently looking
for more volunteers with babies who have had birth trauma
ie vontouse, forceps or C- section births under the
age of 6 months as case studies please call to discuss
treatments.
"a wonderful part of my job is, not only
do I tutor teachers all over the world, I have also
tutored many of my 'swimming mum's' who have now gone
on to create their own swim schools around northampton,
it's like watching my children grow. Along with tutoring
I examine all over the country. So if parents are unable
to book on one of our courses at least I know they are
in good hands"

Cath is also a secondary school teacher and knows
how to get the best from the children she works with.
She trained to be a Birthlight teacher by one of Birthlight’s
Senior Tutor Emmaline Kitson in 2007 and have additional
training directly with Aqualight Babies and the philosophy
which makes the classes so special. Cath is a very experienced
teacher with knowledge beyond her years!
"I have always had a love for water and as
a new parent I wanted to introduce Jack to the water
as soon as possible. After taking Jack (now 18 months
old) to Aqualight swimming lessons from 8 weeks old
I felt our bond become stronger and I decided to look
into becoming qualified to teach myself".

Nola is studying a Sports Science degree at Northampton
university and is working on a dissertation about the
positive effects of regular swimming classes, on babies.
She trained with Birthlight under Emmaline Kitson and
alongside Cath Bates in 2007 and is a very enthusiastic
teacher!
Louise Gleeson
Birthlight Infant Aquatics

Louise is a mum of 2 beautiful children
and is completing her diploma in Infant Aquatics She
finally trained earlier this year and has had much experience
over the past 5 years in the water with her own children.
She is a compassionate and knowledgeable teacher.
